okay but triggers dont have to be trauma triggers for them to be legitimate, and to matter
a trigger is like an emotional allergy, it’s something that triggers uncomfortable feelings. nobody says a pollen allergy isnt an allergy just cause it doesn’t send you to the hospital. a trigger can make you uncomfortable like a pollen allergy or it can be a trauma trigger and send you into ptsd mode and actually be life-threatening
theyre both still triggers. refusing to accept a milder trigger is like saying youre not allowed to buy allergy relief unless you’ve gone to the hospital
A smell is a trigger. A song. A colour. There’s not much other people can do for you or me about our triggers. We have to learn what they are, how we respond to them, and what helps. Other people need to learn how to not be assholes. But they’re not responsible for accidentally triggering us, and they’re not responsible for how we react.
